1. PRACTICAL USE FOR PITCHSLAP:
-------------------------------

Hmmm...

Manipulation of root pitch of source material in ways which can lead to entirely new sounds. I guess this warrants PitchSlap into the field of the experimental, and so be it. Use it to spice up a loop or to creep out your pads, or whatever else you people use my plugs for. :)

2. HOW TO USE PITCHSLAP - CONTROLS:
-----------------------------------

Welcome to PitchSlap!

PitchSlap is very much a powerful synergy of a few simple parts designed to enhance eachother in exciting ways. You've got the pitch manipulators, the delay unit, and the modulators. We'll get into all of that in a minute. But first:

As you can see, PitchSlap's GUI is rather simple compared to the usual DarkWare style. I figured I'd give simplicity a try with this plug; the reason being is that sadly most people have still not gotten over the "it must look like hardware" paradigm to take a VST seriously. Normally I wouldn't give a damn, but I'm trying to sell plugs lately, so here's an attempt to appease both sides of the camp. A crazy plug wrapped up in a safe'n'sterile suit. Fans of my usual style please do not despair, free plugs will still be released and they will have GUIs with a vengeance. However, since I'm trying to make some money here, let's just see if some of you are more willing to part with your PayPal dollar if I make a GUI more suited to what you're used to...

Anyway, on to the controls!:

BYPASS TOGGLE:

Use this to instantly toggle between the source material and the affected PitchSlap-ped material.

MIX BYPASS:

Use this knob to fade between the source material and the affected PitchSlap-ped material. Great for "seasoning to taste".

DELAY TOGGLE:

Use this to turn the delay unit ON or OFF.

DELAY TYPE:

Located directly beneath the DELAY TOGGLE there is a drop box for delay type; DUB or MICRO can be chosen.

FEEDBACK:

This slider allows the amount of delay feedback desired.

CLIPPING TOGGLE:

Use this to cap off your audio at 80%, leaving plenty of room for headroom dynamics and for keeping your audio out of the red. However, digital distortion can occur if your audio is wayyyy too loud in the first place. If that's the case try lowering the volume of your source material.

VOLUME MIX:

Use this knob to fade the overall volume to a desired level.

PITCH CONTROL INTERFACE:

Ahh the "meat" of PitchSlap! Use these sliders to adjust the root pitch of either the left, right, or both simultaneous channels. Here's where the magic happens, and it's soooo easy!

MODULATORS:

Use these settings to create automated effects inside of PitchSlap:

PITCHMOD:

Enable this to continuously automatically change the pitch of PitchSlap using a waveform cycle.

DELAYMOD:

Enable this to continuously automatically change the delay phasing of PitchSlap using a waveform cycle (the delay unit must be turned ON for this to have any effect!).

WAVEFORM:

Use the dropdown box to choose your desired waveform for either modulator.

MODSPEED:

Set the cycle speed for either modulator.

3. HOW TO USE OCTOECHO - TIPS:
------------------------------

This is an easy plug to use, but here we go anyway:

Take advantage of the fact that you can manipulate the pitch of the stereo field individually, that is left OR right. Using this ability you can really start to make some freaky sounds, in a good way of course.

Don't forget that you can enable delay phase modulation without enabling pitch modulation. This means you can have a "weird" shadow of the PitchSlapped material -without- affecting the pitch parameters. It's -neat- try it. :)

Sometimes less is more, if you can't figure out a practical use for PitchSlap, try using the MIX/BYPASS knob to fade between the effect and your source material... you might find PitchSlap useful afterall!

When manipulating the pitch sliders, remember that the central slider works off the existing settings of the left and right sliders, which means all three sliders are independent. This is a -good- thing for offset effects.

If you get frustrated or musicians' block, don't forget the presets! They are there for tutorial -and- inspiration as much as anything else. :P

WHEN EXPERIMENTING WITH NEW AUDIO APPLICATIONS YOU SHOULD ALWAYS DO SO AT LOW VOLUME LEVELS TO ENSURE UNDAMAGING DECIBEL THRESHOLDS FOR YOUR AUDIO MONITORING EQUIPMENT AND COMFORTABLE LISTENING LEVELS FOR ALL LISTENERS IN THE VICINITY OF THE APPLICATION BEING TESTED.
